Amy Grant

It was so easy to schedule this appointment online and the service happened quickly. I sent my online request on Friday night and Henry was at my door first thing Saturday morning. Henry was courteous, polite, and friendly and explained what needed to be done. The first repair made didn’t 100% solve our toilet issue, so he made sure to recheck everything and ended up replacing a part that he needed to go out and get. Henry was respectful of my time and my home and I appreciate that. Will definitely use this company again!

He took care of them and performed several tests to make sure everything worked well.I couldn’t be happier with the service he provided. Strongly recommended.

Common HVAC Terminology Every Homeowner Should Know

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems work around the clock and through every season to keep us comfortable year-round.If we want to enjoy comfort and convenience without breaking the bank with exorbitant energy bills, then routine heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance is fundamental. Moreover, timely repair is non-negotiable.

However, most property owners do not know where to begin. With so many HVAC parts and service lingo, the typical homeowner gets lost before anything begins. Properly maintaining an HVAC system requires some level of understanding, and Service Hero is here to help witha list of 10 common HVAC terms that every homeowner should know.

We Provide Professional Plumbing & HVAC Services

Tailored services to meet your specific needs and budget, ensuring optimal performance and comfort.

If you are looking for professional HVAC services, you can trust the local experts at Service Hero. We are your one-stop-shop for all of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning needs.

1.    Thermostat

Think of your thermostat as the command center for your HVAC system; it allows you to set your desired temperature. Many modern thermostats are programmable. This means you can set schedules for different times of the day and save energy when you’re not home. There are even smart thermostats that can be remotely controlled.

2.    Air Filter

Air filters are one of the simplest yet most crucial parts of your HVAC system. This element will trap dust, debris, and allergens so that they’re not circulating through your home. Moreover, a clogged filter can restrict airflow and make your system work harder than necessary.

3.    Ductwork

Your HVAC system likely depends on ductwork to distribute heated or cooled air throughout your home.If ducts have leaks, gaps, or blockages, then you may experience uneven temperatures and wasted energy.

4.    Refrigerant

Refrigerant is the liquid or gas responsible for cooling the air in an air conditioning system. It absorbs heat from inside your home and releases it outside. If your system has a refrigerant leak, it won’t cool effectively.

5.    Compressor

The compressor is referred to as the heart of an air conditioning system. This critical component circulates refrigerant between the indoor and outdoor units. If your compressor fails, your entire cooling system could stop working.

6.    Evaporator Coil

The evaporator coil is located inside your home and is responsible for absorbing heat from the air. When refrigerant flows through it, the coil cools down and allows your air conditioning system to blow cold air into your home. If the coil gets dirty or freezes, your AC may stop working properly.

7.    Heat Exchanger

In a furnace, the heat exchanger is the part responsible for transferring heat from the burner to the air that gets distributed through your home. A cracked heat exchanger can be dangerous as it may leak carbon monoxide.

8.    SEER Rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)

If you’re in the market for a new HVAC system, then recognize the SEER rating. The SEER rating measures the efficiency of an air conditioning system. The higher the SEER rating, the more energy-efficient the unit is.

9.    BTU (British Thermal Unit)

BTUs measure the amount of heat an HVAC system can produce or remove from a space. A system with too few BTUs will struggle to efficiently heat or cool your home while an oversized system with too many BTUs may frequently cycle on and off.

10.HVAC Zoning

Zoning allows different areas (or zones) of your home to be heated or cooled independently. This is especially useful for multi-story homes where upstairs and downstairs temperatures often vary.

When to Call the Professionals at Service Hero

While heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance can keep your system in tip-top shape, accidental damage can happen. Power surges, freezing temperatures, and punctures are some common causes of damage.
